Campaign Map!
The Longest Front » Devlog
The game now features a brand new campaign map with friendly and enemy sectors. To win the game simply take all enemy sectors! The feature is still very new and not everything is worked out properly yet, but should be ok for testing. Try it out and let me know if you have any suggestions!
Version 0.1.13
Features
- Campaign Map
- Capture all sectors to win the game
- Move your base to any friendly sector
- New save system that remembers buildings on all sectors, not just on your base sector
- Campaign event log
- Adjusted commander messages and objectives to work with new campaign map
- Campaign Missions
- Attack directions in missions correspond to bordering enemy sectors
- No friendly reinforcements if you are surrounded
- Random friendly end enemy bot skill
- Random reinforcement points (RP)
- RP doesn't regenerate anymore so you have to be careful with how much you use
- Enemy RP also doesn't regenerate so you can kill all enemy soldiers to win the mission
Improvements
- Don't allow transferring to our own inventory. We can use "Open" inventory interaction for that.
- Show date and weather on random skirmish loading screen
- Increased size of terrain so edges are less likely to be visible
- Generated maps have more randomness with regard to tree cover
- Updated Unreal Engine to 5.7.4
Bugfixes
- Mounted machine guns were not showing after loading game
- Vehicle machine guns missing after calling in
- Tank turret MGs were buggy. They now share code with other vehicle MGs so all behave the same.
- It was possible to stack inventory items in some special cases
- Adjusted position of driver in CCKW-353 truck. The hands were showing through the windscreen.
- Equipping weapons or cosmetics onto AI soldiers does not automatically equip.
- Could not build while spectating.
- When unmounting after putting gun in vehicle, gun was equipped again even though it wasn't in player inventory.
Optimization
- Reduced resolution of generated map image to improve loading times
- Improved random level generation speed to improve loading times
- Optimized bullet cartridge effects by setting a global limit
- Optimized muzzle flash particles

Looks exciting. Will test it out tonight! Are current save games still compatible? :)
Cool! Let me know what you think. There were quite a lot of changes to the save system, so old saves won't work properly. To test late game stuff without having to put in lots of time again you can always cheat by enabling the developer tools in the settings ;)
Thanks! Will just restart, wasnt too far in and a new start with the new knowledge is always a good thing. Keep up the good work!
